Once a year, we set aside time to rest and celebrate the fruits of our hard work. Yep, you guessed it…Labor Day is here! There are plenty of fun ways to enjoy this long weekend with others, as well as taking time for ourselves. So, here are 3 ways to celebrate this Labor Day.
1. Spend Time With Others
Community is key. So, make sure to gather with those around you this Labor Day! Invite your family and friends into your home (or backyard!) to share a meal. Taking a trip to the lake together, as well as hiking and camping, offer the added benefit of spending time in God’s creation. Or if your family and friends are in town for the long weekend, invite them to church on Sunday! What better place is there to gather with your community than in the house of the Lord?
2. Sit Back and Relax
With all of life’s hustle and bustle, take some time to sit back and relax this Labor Day weekend. You could read a good book, take a stroll in the park, or indulge in a nap. Whatever you do with this break from work, it’s important to give your mind and body rest. When we’re constantly on the go, we can burn out quickly. So, make sure to unwind and enjoy yourself! While you are relaxing, check out the Sermon Notes Podcast for some uplifting encouragement from our campus pastors.
3. Reflect on The Good Things
Whether work-related achievements or personal ones, reflect on your successes as you thank God for seeing you through every high and low. Consider taking time to do a prayerful inventory of your labors. Meditate on Ephesians 2:10 or Psalm 90:17, asking God to help you to do your work for Him, not for the praise of man. As you focus on the good things, make sure to celebrate each and every victory. And thank Him for both the work and for the rest!
So, there you have it: 3 ways to celebrate Labor Day. Enjoy your long weekend and have a great time!
