Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. —Matthew 10:29-31
Living Up or Living Out?
Expectation—a word that makes many of us cripple with fear, thinking we may never be able to live up to anticipated desires. We often cringe at the thought of never measuring up to standards placed on us by our bosses and coworkers, our family members and friends, and even ourselves. But, what if we could change our perspective from “living up” to expectation and realize how we find our worth when “living out” our God-given calling.
Join us at this year’s Immersion Focus Event to learn how the Bible transforms the way you view your daily responsibilities at work and home in light of your calling. The event takes place on Saturday, June 22, from 9:00-11:00 AM in The Gallery (Connection Center, Brentwood Campus).
Dr. Plummer, Chair of the New Testament Department at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, will be our featured speaker. In this interactive teaching time, he will lead us through the Scriptures to show us three primary points:
1. When we work, we reflect the image of God as Creator and understand that all honest work has immense dignity.
2. God’s loving sovereignty extends to the most mundane tasks of your day, and it’s biblical to think of your daily work as a calling from God (1 Corinthians 7:20).
3. One of the ways you are to love God and love your neighbor is through faithfully fulfilling your daily responsibilities as an employee, business owner, parent, spouse, etc.
Immersion is an open event, and no registration is required.
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. —Colossians 3:23-24
