The Harvest Is Plenty: Every Girl Counts in Nairobi

In Nairobi, our Hope For the World partner Every Girl Counts is doing something remarkable — reaching girls with the gospel of Jesus through education.

Many of the girls in the program come from families who can’t afford to send them to school. Every Girl Counts steps into that gap, offering not just an education but a community of faith. Every Saturday, the girls gather to study the Word of God in small groups, where they’re encouraged not only to follow Jesus but also to help others find Him.

That discipleship is bearing fruit. The girls regularly share the gospel in their community, and this year the ministry organized a soccer tournament that became an unexpected mission field. “Through the soccer tournament, we’ve seen girls come to Christ,” one of the program’s leaders shared. Last year, 11 students gave their lives to Jesus and chose to be baptized.

One of those students put it simply: “The moment I received Christ, I got to know Him better, and now I’m helping others who need to know God.” She’s now a teacher at the very school she once attended; one of many stories the ministry celebrates.

The wider community has noticed, too. The local sub-county recently recognized Every Girl Counts as one of its top faith-based organizations. This summer, the ministry will welcome around 300 girls to its next soccer tournament, another chance to share hope.

But there’s more work than there are workers. As one leader reminded us, quoting Jesus, “The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few” (Matthew 9:37). Every Girl Counts is praying for more partners ready to go.

Could God be calling you to a future mission journey? Watch their story, and prayerfully consider how you might be part of what He’s doing in Nairobi.
