Years in the Making: Two Global Workers Say Yes

Brentwood Baptist is sending two more of our own into the world. Drew Benward is headed to The Point Church in Vancouver, Canada, and Elizabeth Harris is headed to Cape Town, South Africa, to serve with Living Hope. Both have spent years walking toward this moment: Drew since a high school mission trip to Chicago left him thinking, “I could do this for the rest of my life,” and Elizabeth since her first visit to Living Hope at age 10. Now, after seasons of prayer, they’re both saying yes.

Drew will serve at The Point Church using gifts he discovered in kids ministry, most recently during two months in Vancouver in the summer of 2023. Elizabeth will join Living Hope’s communications team, helping to tell the stories behind the organization’s more than 50 programs, work that aligns directly with what she studied in college.

Neither expected this to be their story. Drew gave his yes at the 2025 Global Worker Gathering: “I’ve been praying about this for two years. I want to go.” Elizabeth put it simply: “I never thought I would go as a global worker… but here I am.”

Different countries, different roles, same vision: Brentwood Baptist is committed to sharing the gospel with millions, and Drew and Elizabeth are boldly stepping into that call.

Pray for them both as they prepare to go: for Elizabeth’s work visa, for wisdom in the transitions ahead, and for the communities in Vancouver and Cape Town that will soon call them family.
