Jonah was frustrated and angry that the people of Ninevah had repented of their sin, and that God did not destroy their city. Jonah felt that God had been too lenient in dealing with the sin of that great city. However, God reminds Jonah (and us) that He desires to be merciful, and we ought to be grateful that none of us gets what we truly deserve.
