7 Sermons The Church Needs to Hear

Do you ever wish that you could have been alive when Jesus walked the earth? Many people wander what it would have been like to personally hear Him preach the Olivet discourse, share the parables, or teach the Beatitudes. Since these lessons have been left with us through God’s written Word, it would benefit us to take a look deeper into the exact messages that Jesus left for His church.

“The revelation of Jesus Christ that God gave Him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending His angel to His servant John, who testified to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, whatever he saw. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy and blessed are those who hear the words of this prophecy and keep what is written in it, because the time is near.” —Revelation 1:1-3

In the book of Revelation, Jesus revealed seven sermons to the apostle John that the church of our generation needs to hear. Originally aimed at seven churches located in Asia Minor, these sermons serve as both an encouragement to persevere, despite difficulties and persecution, and a warning to those who have become complacent in their faith. Christ addresses overall health in these sermons so that the church may walk in its full potential.

At this year’s Immersion event, Dr. Jeff Weima will help us to unpack five of the seven sermons to test today’s church for the need of spiritual support, healing, and/or change. Dr. Weima has traveled extensively to Turkey, where these seven ancient churches are located, and will be using varied visual imagery to immerse us more deeply into the sermons.
