Jonah did not want to go to the city and people of Ninevah where God was sending him.

In an effort to escape this calling upon his life, he tried to run away. But running from God only made matters worse. Jonah’s disobedience complicated his life and brought unimaginable consequences into his life. We may not always understand why God asks us to do something, but we can be assured that it is for His redemptive purposes, and it is always better to obey.
