At the core of what it means to be human is that we’re created for relationship. Relationships are intended to complement us, not complete us. That is evident in the first human relationship—marriage. Man and woman found their identities in relationship with God and then discovered joy and intimacy in being complemented by one another. We were never intended to find identity, worth, or value in what another human can provide. Only God can do that. This should reshape and inform our motives and actions as we seek relationships with others.
