November 24 | Week 47 Gospel Conversation Opportunity

GOSPEL CONVERSATION OPPORTUNITY

Read Acts 17:22-31

Paul’s sermon to the non-believers in Athens clearly explained the difference between religion and a relationship with the one true God. Paul had noticed that the Greeks believed in gods and they had a lot of knowledge about what they believed. They believed in some sort of divine being that had control over different aspects of life. As he shared the good news of the Gospel with them, he even pointed out how religious they were. However, Paul also took time to show the difference between the gods they were serving and the one true God that He was teaching about.

Paul pointed out that through God we live and move and have our being. God is responsible for all of that. Paul also taught that a day was coming when God was going to judge the world, and that people needed to repent. Paul’s challenge to the people was to recognize the difference between their gods and the one true GOD!

Is there anything in your life that you are worshiping like a god? Sometimes we forget that anything we worship or place as more important than God is idolatry! Remember, God wants a relationship with you, and He wants to be first in your life! Ask Him to help you focus on your relationship with Him above anything else!

November Memory Verse:

“The grass withers, the flowers fade, but the word of our God remains forever.”

Using the daily reading prompts from George H. Guthrie’s Read the Bible for Life, here’s how to use this devotional:
  1. Bring your Bible!  Your kids need to see that everything you are reading to them or learning about comes from an actual Bible!
  2. Each day starts with a reading prompt.  Read the selection as a family.  If your kids are readers, encourage them to read along with you.
  3. After you’ve read the passage, read the short devotional thought that goes along with each passage.
  4. Prayer and application are important any time we read God’s word!  After each devotional, there is a challenge to help apply what your family has read that day.
  5. There is a reading for six days of the week.  The last reading of the week is a Gospel Conversation Prompt to help you connect the reading from the week with God’s plan for salvation.
