Today’s Reading:
Read Psalm 3-4; Psalm 55:1,22
Have you ever had a bad day? Some days it can feel like nothing is going our way, can’t it? Unfortunately, David had a lot of those days.
Sadly, David was running from his son, Absolom. Absolom wanted to hurt King David. Our readings today show us that David trusted God to protect him while he was running for his safety. David knew that he could trust God in the middle of trials or situations that might be hard to face. David knew that he could turn to God when he was worried or scared and that God would protect him.
Read Psalm 55:22
“Cast your burden on the Lord, he will sustain you; he will never allow the righteous to be shaken.”
David knew that God would take care of him. We can have that same kind of faith in God as well!
Application/Prayer:
Read Psalm 55:1. What is something you can bring to the Lord in prayer today? Thank Him for listening to your prayer and for not hiding from you when you ask for help. God is always listening!
May Memory Verse:
“Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.”
- Bring your Bible! Your kids need to see that everything you are reading to them or learning about comes from an actual Bible!
- Each day starts with a reading prompt. Read the selection as a family. If your kids are readers, encourage them to read along with you.
- After you’ve read the passage, read the short devotional thought that goes along with each passage.
- Prayer and application are important any time we read God’s word! After each devotional, there is a challenge to help apply what your family has read that day.
- There is a reading for six days of the week. The last reading of the week is a Gospel Conversation Prompt to help you connect the reading from the week with God’s plan for salvation.
