Today’s Reading:
Read Song of Songs 1:15-16b; 2:16a; 4:7; 5:10; 7:10
Think about Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. What happens to each of them at the end of their stories? They each fall in love with their prince, and they live happily ever after. Did you know that the Bible has love stories written in it as well?
Song of Songs is a beautiful love story of a young couple who fall in love and get married and live happily ever after! Read Genesis 2:24. God designed marriage to be between a man and a woman. The verses in our reading today show how the man and the woman the author writes about love each other and are following God’s design in marriage.
Application/Prayer:
Kids, did you know that you can start praying today for the person you might marry someday? You can ask God to prepare you and your future spouse to be a godly couple and to be used by him. Parents, this is a great practice for you as well. Pray for your child’s future spouse.
May Memory Verse:
“Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.”
- Bring your Bible! Your kids need to see that everything you are reading to them or learning about comes from an actual Bible!
- Each day starts with a reading prompt. Read the selection as a family. If your kids are readers, encourage them to read along with you.
- After you’ve read the passage, read the short devotional thought that goes along with each passage.
- Prayer and application are important any time we read God’s word! After each devotional, there is a challenge to help apply what your family has read that day.
- There is a reading for six days of the week. The last reading of the week is a Gospel Conversation Prompt to help you connect the reading from the week with God’s plan for salvation.
