FAQs

Who is Generations Forward for?

Generations Forward is for every Brentwood Baptist campus family — whether you’ve never started an estate plan or already have one in place. There’s a track for both.

Do I have to give money to Brentwood Baptist Church to participate?

Absolutely not. This is a ministry of stewardship to our people. You will have an opportunity to leave a gift to Brentwood, but a gift is not required for reimbursement or campaign participation.

I don't have an estate plan yet. What do I do?

Generations Forward is for you! Schedule a free consultation with a Tennessee Baptist Foundation representative. They’ll walk you through building a plan framework, which is then finalized by an independent local attorney. Let us know when it’s complete, and the church will reimburse legal fees up to $500. You can also use the church’s existing Giftwise solution for simple estates for free. A Foundation session is still recommended.

I already have an estate plan. Do I need to do anything?

Yes — just let us know! Submit the short Legacy Prepared form so we can count and celebrate your family alongside those building new plans. If your plan is already done, you’ve already moved Generations Forward.

How much will the church reimburse, and what qualifies?

Brentwood Baptist will reimburse legal fees up to $500 per family for completed, legally binding estate plan documents. Reimbursement funds are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Who is the Tennessee Baptist Foundation, and are they connected to the church?

The Foundation provides specialized, biblically aligned estate planning guidance as a neutral third party. The attorneys who finalize your documents are independent, licensed professionals completely separate from both the church and the Foundation — this keeps the process legally sound and pastorally trustworthy.

Is this just about money and legal paperwork?

No — estate plans are documents, but estate planning is profoundly spiritual. Generations Forward is about good stewardship, having a healthy conversation about mortality as people of faith, and ensuring your resources continue to serve the Kingdom long after you’re gone.

Do I need to use an attorney recommended by Brentwood Baptist to be reimbursed?

No. In fact, Brentwood Baptist does not endorse or recommend attorneys. The Tennessee Baptist Foundation has arrangements with some local attorneys and may recommend one to you. You may or may not follow this recommendation; your choice of attorney will not impact your eligibility for reimbursement of up to $500 of legal fees.

What if I've already left a bequest to the church?

THANK YOU for moving Generations Forward. Please let us know by clicking My Legacy is Prepared.

I want to leave money to Brentwood Baptist in my estate. How do I do it?

Thank you for leaving money to the ministry of Brentwood Baptist! You can leave an undesignated gift to the ministry of the church. If you want to designate an estate gift, we suggest you do so to one of the following:

  • Our capital expenses account,
  • The Gayle Haywood Educational Foundation (this provides scholarships to Brentwood seminary students), or
  • Our special needs ministry.

If you have another intended purpose for an estate gift, let us help you. You can reach our stewardship minister in the office or by email.

When does this all wrap up?

Celebration Sunday is November 22, 2026. We will publicly celebrate the total number of families who have completed new plans or verified existing ones — together, we are moving Generations Forward.
