Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16–17
Devotion
Have you ever felt a moment of inspiration? Maybe it came while admiring creation or hearing a piece of music that stirred your heart. I remember standing at the base of the Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau, Alaska, when I heard what sounded like thunder, followed by cracking, as a massive sheet of ice broke off and crashed into the water. I stood there in awe.
It reminded me of Genesis 1, where God spoke the world into existence, creatio ex nihilo, out of nothing. And again in Genesis 2, when He breathed life into Adam’s nostrils after forming him from the dust.
In 2 Timothy 3:16–17, we see that all Scripture is “God-breathed.” Just as His Word created the world and His breath gave life, Scripture originates from Him and carries His divine power. The Word of God does not just describe creation; it brings life and transformation.
This passage teaches that Scripture is profitable in four ways: it instructs us in truth, rebukes our errors, corrects our paths, and trains us in righteousness. Through it, we are made complete and equipped for every good work (v.17).
Scripture is the source and sustainer of spiritual momentum. If the gospel is to advance in us and through us, it begins and ends with the Word of God.
A Personal Prayer
Father, breathe Your life into me today. Let Your Word stir my heart, shape my thoughts, and guide my steps. When I feel distracted or uncertain, remind me that Your truth is steady and trustworthy. Teach me through Scripture, correct me when I stray, and train me to walk in righteousness so that my life reflects Your Spirit at work within me.
