Cul2vate Nashville: Adam Harper’s Journey of Recovery, Faith, and Work
In this episode of Steeple People, we step behind the farm fields and greenhouses at Cul2vate Nashville to hear the story of Harvest Director Adam Harper. Years before he ever thought about food safety plans, distribution routes, or a harvest team, Adam was wrestling with addiction, a traumatic brain injury, and the fallout of broken relationships. He describes waking up from a medically induced coma, realizing how fragile his life was, and slowly discovering that the foundation he had built was not going to hold.
Through a series of unlikely connections, including a coffee shop worship night, a mental health group at church, a stack of cards from Brentwood Baptist, and open doors at ministries like Project Connect and Cul2vate, Adam began to encounter Jesus in a personal way. At Cul2vate, he entered as a cultivator and found more than job training. He found structure, tough love, discipleship, and a community committed to growing food and growing people.
Today, Adam oversees harvest operations, food safety, and distribution, helping Cul2vate serve partners across Middle Tennessee and address food insecurity while walking alongside men and women rebuilding their lives. If you’re curious how a farm behind a church can become a place of healing, formation, and mission, this conversation will broaden your view of what ministry can be.
