The Greatest Need of All

Our Prayer and Vision

When the Medical Dental Unit first began traveling around Middle Tennessee two years ago, the prayer was that it would be a way for Brentwood Baptist Church to meet both physical and spiritual needs. And that’s exactly what God has done as the MDU has ministered to people all over the region.

The MDU is a 40-foot evangelism tool—a mobile unit customized to provide free, limited medical and dental care to those in need. In addition to caring for the medical and dental needs of patients, the heart of the ministry is to introduce people to Jesus.

Relationships Matter

At least twice every month, medical, dental, and non-clinical volunteers commit their time on a volunteer basis. Half of these events take place at one of the 8 campuses of Brentwood Baptist. The other half of MDU events happen through partnerships with local churches and Christian organizations in the region. These partnerships are intentional. The goal of the MDU is never to just show up to an area, treat medical and dental needs, and leave. The goal is to build relationships with people in communities so the gospel is shared and lives are changed.

So far in 2015, the MDU has impacted the lives of patients in the communities of Spring Hill, Madison, 12 South, Brentwood, West Franklin, Rogersville, and Nashville by caring for a total of 685 patients.

A Life-Changing Ministry

Most importantly, through meaningful conversations at MDU events, 33 people have come to know Christ. Their lives have been eternally changed, and God is answering the prayers of those who dreamed up this ministry opportunity.

On Saturday, November 14, the MDU will roll into the parking lot of The Church at Woodbine to meet the needs of the people living in the Woodbine community in Nashville. At this event, teeth will be pulled, medical questions will be answered, prayer needs will be listened to and prayed for, and the gospel will be shared with every patient.

Join us in praying for this event. Pray for every person who walks up looking for help with a physical need. Pray that these people will leave that day having found that their greatest need—a relationship with Jesus—has been met as well.
