“Listen, Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.”
Deuteronomy 6:4-5
Assessing The Cost
Did you grow up watching The Price is Right on the local television stations? If so, how good of a job did you do with estimating the value of the items put on display? Some of us did an excellent job, whereas others of us probably just have to come to terms with how bad we are at math.
Regardless of our savviness in assessing costs, we are likewise asked a similar question with each new day as believers in Jesus. When it comes to following Christ, what is it worth when it comes to our worship?
All-Encompassing Worship
If you grew up in church, you may have a tendency to compartmentalize worship to the songs we sing at the bookends of each church service. But worship is more than that. In fact, it’s all-encompassing.
So much so that we must evaluate Jesus’ worth as we navigate the ins and outs of the lives we lead. Are we trying to confine Him to just our Sunday mornings? Just those last few minutes of our day in a quick prayer? Or have we allowed His presence to seep into all that we are and all that we do?
Revealing The Value
Today’s Bible verse is an important one. It’s a reminder to us of the supremacy and oneness of our God. He who is all-powerful lives within us through His Spirit.
The only One who is capable of captivating our hearts, souls, and strength with His love has done just that through His one and only Son. He is worthy of it all, and all that we do is an act of worship that reveals His worth. How can you reveal the value of a life lived in service to Him?
What Now?
Take a moment to consider what your life reveals about the Lord’s infinite, untamable worth. Does worship infiltrate into each of the areas of your life? Reflect on how you can put Him, the Creator, back into the central space of your life, that everlasting life would continue to flow from His presence there at the center.
