Did Someone Say, “Cheesecake?”

In Proverbs 16:24, we read that pleasant words bring sweetness to the soul. Angela, a member of the Brentwood campus, recently discovered this truth when she made a visit to one of her favorite restaurants. It was there that God worked through a slice of cheesecake!

Angela noted, “I recently experienced a special, God-ordained moment while at The Cheesecake Factory. I met a precious lady there, and we really hit it off. We had a mutual love for the Lord and quickly became Facebook friends.”

Led by the Holy Spirit

She continued, “Fast forward a couple of weeks—I went to an appointment to meet a client who was interested in me becoming her realtor. During the appointment, we made small-talk conversation, but it went further as I mentioned that my husband and I parent four daughters: one is biological and three are adopted. As I expounded on my story, I unpacked for her the sovereignty of God and the power we have experienced through consistent prayer.

Later, she shared with me that her daughter was fostering to adopt and asked that I remember them in my prayers. After multiple promptings from the Lord, I offered to pray with her and her husband. Right there, we held hands and could discern the work of the Holy Spirit in our midst.”

Not By Coincidence

Angela said, “After that meeting, I received a private message on Facebook from the woman I met at The Cheesecake Factory. Her message stated that she had just caught up with her friend, who couldn’t stop talking about her new real estate agent. Her friend described the realtor as being a member of Brentwood Baptist and an adoptive parent to three children. The two women, who have been friends for almost thirty years, soon discovered that they both knew me!

I’m always amazed at God and His sweet timing. I’ve met so many adoptive parents and families, who I’ve been able to encourage along their journeys. And I stand in awe at His work. Some may call it random coincidences, but I know they are His divine appointments.”

Embrace Each Sweet Opportunity

May we all be encouraged to live pleasing lives to God, knowing that our service is a sweet smelling aroma to Him and to those who are around us (2 Corinthians 2:15).
