Bio

Kyla Conlee is the former Director of The Dream Center Human Trafficking Program, a 20-bed long term recovery program for adult, female victims of Human Trafficking in Los Angeles, California. Kyla started a street outreach, working long hours in the night reaching an average of 100 girls a week being trafficking on the street of Southern California. Kyla also started and managed a 24-hour a hotline, 24-hour emergency response team, and opened the only emergency shelter specific to trafficked victims in the area.  Kyla pursued partnerships with NGOs, churches, individuals and law enforcement that also focus on assisting trafficked victims. She has facilitated the recovery of almost 400 victims of human trafficking in the six years she spent in Los Angeles.

 

She was member of the LA Metro Task Force, Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force, Long Beach Human Trafficking Task Force, ICAN Task Force and the San Diego Human Trafficking CSEC Service Providers Committee. She is a graduate of the Spring 2016 Class of Homeland Security Citizen Police Academy. She is also the recipient of Vanguard University’s Center for Woman and Justice 2015 Diamond Award.

 

In 2017, Kyla took on a new position as the Anti-Human Trafficking Program Manager for The Salvation Army National Capital Area Command. She is working on a 3-phase residential program for trafficking victims, serving the needs of the Washington D.C., Southern Maryland and Norther Virginia region. The program opened their first phase with 24-hour emergency services, including a 24-hour hotline and 8 bed emergency shelter in the summer of 2018. Phase 2 is scheduled open in the fall of 2019 with an 8-bed stabilizing program.

 

She is currently an active member of the Washington DC Human Trafficking Task Force, Co-Leader of the DCHTTF Direct Services Subcommittee, Northern Virginia Human Trafficking Task Force, Prince Georges Human Trafficking Task Force and the Montgomery County Human Trafficking Task Force.

Prayers as I am leading/training a new team to care for the needs of human trafficking survivors

Prayers for me personally as I am on a new journey of being licensed as a foster parent and praying for the opportunity for adoption.

Prayers for safety in this field, it can sometimes be dangerous. 

Prayers for continued health and rest and perseverance.
