Be Present with God in Sabbath

October 8, 2017

Scott Harris · Mark 6:31

Being a Christian means you can rest from work. We no longer have to work to try to be right with God. Jesus worked for us. We no longer have to work and hope our good outweighs our bad. Jesus suffered for all the bad we have done. We don’t have to work to get God to love us. He demonstrated He already loves us by sending Jesus. God, in Jesus, did all the work for us. Likewise, He now lives in us and does His work of grace in and through us. We tend to forget, however, that the work has been done. The spiritual discipline of Sabbath forces the Christian to remember to rest, allowing the Lord to restore our souls and worship the God who did the work for us.
