Hurricane Michael Disaster Relief

Scott Harris

Ministry Amidst Disaster

Over the years, we as a church have responded to multiple disasters – the Asian Tsunami of 2004, Katrina in 2005, the Nashville Flood in 2010 and last year’s hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria.

Thanks to your generous giving, we have released $100,000 in the last three weeks to Southern Baptist disaster relief organizations specifically related to hurricanes Florence and Michael.

Thank You for Your Care and Support

Moving forward, we will monitor opportunities to respond in a more hands on way in the coming days and weeks.  We’ve already received inquiries about helping in church rebuilding in those affected areas.

People often want to do something immediately. That’s absolutely understandable.  However, we have discovered that our most significant contribution typically comes later. We do not want to get in the way of first responders.

We will also be monitoring if we can help any evacuees who come to our area. We will be working with local organizations to coordinate a unified response. More info on that if and when it develops.

How You Can Help

In the meantime, please pray – pray for victims, first responders and for the church.  In times like this, our nation looks to the church uniting to be on the cutting edge of providing sustenance and care.

May these natural disasters remind us to seize EVERY opportunity with an URGENCY to share the gospel with the lost, the hungry and the displaced among our neighbors and nations.
