Gather together to make your favorite Christmas cookies. As you measure, pour, and mix the ingredients, talk about what hope means. Discuss how hope is the feeling of expectation and the desire for a certain thing to happen. Talk about your hope for how the cookies will look and taste.

Then, while they’re in the oven baking, read Isaiah 9:6-7 together. Discuss how the book of Isaiah was written about 700 years before Jesus was even born! Share how the Jewish people held hope for a Savior who would be born to rescue them from their sins and how that hope came to life in Jesus!

Consider sharing some of your cookies with others, offering to them the hope that comes through Jesus as we wait for His return.
