For This Child I Pray | Week 9

“Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” —Matthew 10:31

Early in each of my three pregnancies, I experienced occasional bouts of anxiety over the welfare of my unborn baby. I would worry about things that might happen to my little one, especially when I heard bad news.

Over time, I began to use these moments as reminders to pray instead of panic. Although my little sheep would soon be out in the world, I realized the best protection I can give them is to cover them in prayer and trust in the God who entrusted them to me.

It’s never too early to start praying for your baby. At week nine, this nearly inch-long person is already a child of God. And, He loves him or her even more than you do! The tiny heart begins to beat and several other organs form. Eyelids nearly cover the eyes, and the little ears are identifiable.

What a time to pray that this teeny heart would always beat for God and that this little person will have complete trust in Him. From birth through old age, may the eyelids be shut to corruption and the ears be tuned to hear and obey the Heavenly Father’s voice.

And Mama, don’t worry about the stress of this world. You can trust our Father with your little lamb, because He sent us His Son—the perfect Lamb. Jesus took away the sins of the world and eternally secured the future of those who put their faith and trust in Him. He cares for you and your child, so take to heart and fear not.
