For This Child I Pray | Week 17

Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” —John 4:10

This is an exciting time in your pregnancy! You are drawing near the half-way point, but at about 3.5 ounces, your little one is only about the size of your hand and still has plenty of growing to do. Whether or not you have a baby bump to show, it’s a safe bet your waistline has changed. Because of that, a discussion on fat probably isn’t on your favorite topics list just now. Still, your sweet baby is beginning to form the layers of fat which will keep him or her warm, aid metabolism, and eventually pile up to become those adorable, squeezable rolls you can’t wait to see!

But right now, at the beginning of fat formation, it’s the water (or amniotic fluid) which provides the greatest insulation. It also acts as a shock absorber, and as your baby swallows and breathes the fluid, helps build the muscles he or she will need to breathe and eat after birth.

As you pray for these areas of development, why not pray now for your precious little bundle to come to know the great Fountain of Living Water— the Lord, Jesus Christ? Because Jesus gave His life to pay the price of the sins of the world, trusting in Him acts as a spiritual shock absorber, enabling His followers to withstand the storms of life that can knock us around. Jesus promises that the water He gives will become a spring of water welling up to eternal life. Pray your child will receive the everlasting protection of this priceless gift!
