“Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place.” —Psalm 51:6
When I first think of week 16, I think how there is only four more weeks until finding out the sex of the baby! Yet, so much more growth goes into this week that we need to carefully take note.
Your baby’s outer features such as hair, eye lashes, and eye brows begin to develop. Also, your little one’s hearing begins to develop, which means he or she now has the ability to hear your voice.
I want you to take the next few moments and think about your voice. Reflect on the tone and inflections that you normally use. Consider its sounds and reverberations. Also, consider the words that you speak. Think of every phrase that comes from your voice and know that your baby now hears it all within the womb, within the secret place.
The scripture for this week tells us that the Lord teaches wisdom in the secret place, and I cannot imagine a place more secret and hidden from the world than the womb. This is the place where your baby is growing into the person God has created him or her to be, and He wants to use your voice to make an impact on His little creation.
After we are born, the Lord continues to teach us for the rest of our lives. And, He gives us wisdom so we can understand His faithfulness. The Lord has been teaching you and giving you wisdom your whole life so that you can now teach your little one who currently dwells inside of you. Your baby hears your voice, so be wise in the Lord. Fill your baby’s ears with the knowledge and wisdom of the Holy Spirit, and pray that your child will one day put into practice what he or she learned while safe in the secret place.
