“This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light, and there is absolutely no darkness in him.”
1 John 1:5
There’s a light at the end of every tunnel. When we’re going through tough times, it’s easy to forget that God’s presence is near. And today’s Scripture reveals this truth. So, don’t fear the dark – God is here with us!
When we’re in a season of darkness, it sometimes feels like we’ve been abandoned. We don’t know where to go and doubts cloud our vision. But the truth is we have someone we can turn to! The Bible tells us that God is light, and there is no darkness in Him (1 John 1:5). This means that He is always with us, even in our darkest moments. When others forsake us or walk away, we can trust that the God who stays will never leave us alone.
Rest on God’s Promises
When we’re afraid, we can rest in the knowledge that God brings light into our dark situations. Psalm 139 says the darkness and light are alike to Him and that there is no where we could go from His presence. What a promise! So, the next time you’re feeling afraid, remember that God sees everything, and He will never let go of your hand. Rest in Him as He leads you through dark times, for He is the God who sees you.
Worship in The Dark
When you’re in the dark, worship is the best response. Worship brings our full attention and focus to God. It’s the opportunity to praise Him for who He really is. When we worship, our hearts are in a humble posture to receive breakthroughs and deliverances. We see the psalmist David often declares the praises of the One who brought Him out of darkness and into glorious light. So don’t be afraid of the dark – worship in it instead.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom should I fear?” – Psalm 27:1
What light do you need today? Ask God to penetrate the darkness of your life and reveal Himself to you in a new way.
