Ed Smith is the Outreach Minister at The Church at Woodbine. He is also the President of Williamson College in Franklin, TN. He has focused much of his 30-year career on mentoring leaders to understand underlying organizational culture, helping them create an appropriate transition strategy, and get on the right path to achieve their objectives. He has a special calling to assist church and faith-based leaders in being on mission for Christ.
Prior to joining the Brentwood Baptist staff and serving in leadership capacities at Williamson College, Ed was the founder of Oxygen for Leaders, an executive coaching and consultancy organization. He holds a M.B.A. from the University of Kentucky, a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from Regent University, and is currently enrolled in the M.A. track in Missiology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
An avid mountaineer, Ed has coordinated and led a leadership development trek that reached the base camp of Mount Everest in 2005 and 2008. At nearly 18,000 ft. in altitude, Everest Base Camp is the staging area for climbers attempting to summit Mt. Everest, the world’s highest peak. His primary passion these days isn’t achieving altitude but, rather, equipping others to advance the kingdom locally and throughout the world.
He and his wife of 34 years, Kay DeKalb Smith, live in Franklin, Tennessee. They have two married daughters and five grandchildren.
