Trustee Nominations

The Trustees of Brentwood Baptist Church are elected by the congregation to pray for and work with the Pastor. They confirm the leading of God for our church, overseeing the ministries and programs to ensure our strategies align with God’s vision for our congregation. Needless to say, this is an important ministry, and that’s why we are so deliberate in our selection process.

Ballots will be available for voting in services at all campuses on Sunday, November 8, and Sunday, November 15. Church bylaws do not allow for absentee voting.

Past Service at Brentwood Baptist: Deacon at Brentwood Baptist (2009-2014), Young Married LIFE Group Leader (2010-2012)

Statement of Faith: At 10 years old, I recognized my need for Christ as my Lord and Savior. I understood that Christ was the only way to salvation and that nothing that I could do would ever earn my salvation. I confessed myself as a sinner, asked forgiveness for my sins, repented, and asked the Lord to come into my life. I was baptized as part of my public profession of faith. God led my family and I to Brentwood Baptist in 2005, where I began the most significant spiritual growth of my life. I believe that I am made in the image of God and that my ultimate fulfillment comes through the transformation into Christ-likeness by giving my life over to the lordship of Christ. Psalm 18:2-3.

  • Ruth Hillis

Occupation: Mediator/community volunteer; retired employment attorney.

Current Service at Brentwood Baptist Church (including its campuses): Volunteer Coordinator for Carter-Lawrence Elementary School Partnership, 1st/2nd Grade LIFE Group Leader, Women’s LIFE Group Host

Past Service at Brentwood Baptist: Amazon Medical Mission Journey, 1st and 2nd grade LIFE Group Leader, VBS Teacher; LIFE Group and Prayer Group Member, Nashville Campus Launch Team Member

Statement of Faith: I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God. My joy in life is Romans 8:35-39. No one can separate me from Christ’s love! I believe in the Great Commission and in the obligation of the local church to minister to each other and to the world. I began attending Brentwood Baptist because I believed it to be a great teaching congregation and I wanted to learn. What I didn’t anticipate was that the love and prayers of Brentwood Baptist members would support me through multiple losses and bring a breakthrough in a 13-year-old unsolved murder of a family member. My testimony is that Brentwood Baptist is a “sent” congregation under Romans 10:15.

Statement of Faith: At the age of 14, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. The witness of classmates, who attended Brentwood Baptist Church, ignited my curiosity to read the Scriptures and opened my eyes to my need for a Savior. I believe the Bible is the Divinely-inspired and inerrant Word of God. Salvation is offered freely to all mankind. It was purchased by the blood of Christ and is available to all who accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. There is only one way to God, in accordance with John 14:6, and that is through faith in Jesus Christ. I desire to follow God’s commands in 2 Timothy 2:2 and 2:15, and thus to encourage others to be not only disciples of Christ, but also to be disciple-makers.
