    • Introduction to Sketching and Drawing

This class, meant for those with little to no experience in drawing, is designed simply to teach students how to translate the things they observe or imagine onto paper.  We will work with perspective, anatomical proportions, and basic pencil and ink drawing techniques ranging from quick sketches to sustained drawings.

    • Drawing and Painting I

This class is designed for those who have already had some experience with art and would like an overview of how to use and care for the materials involved in pencil, charcoal, ink, acrylic, and watercolor renderings. We will also discuss how to create more accurate renderings from photographs and how to maximize your growth as an artist.

    • Drawing and Painting II

This class, a follow-up of Drawing and Painting I, focuses on drawing from life rather than from photographs. Drawing and Painting I, or a moderate amount of experience in drawing and painting, is recommended before enrolling in this course. In working on observational drawings and paintings, we will learn the use and care of the materials involved in colored pencil drawing, pastel drawing, and oil painting.

    • Calligraphy and Typography

This class can be enjoyed by everyone, from those with no artistic experience to those with a substantial amount of skill. The class focuses on the visual beauty of the written word. We will learn basic refined penmanship, several calligraphic alphabets, and the basics of typography. We will use dip pens, calligraphy pens/markers, and chalk to create text-based art.

    • Watercolor Painting

In this class, students will paint along with the instructor each week to create a specific watercolor painting. Some experience with art is helpful, but the class is a good way to gain some skill quickly, regardless of skill level. We will cover beginner and intermediate techniques with the goal of gaining technical knowledge while enjoying a finished painting at the end of each class.
